As a player, he also worked for the Algerian national team in 2003 . After changing associations, Aïmen Demai played two games for the Tunisian national team in 2009 .

Career

In the club

Demai's father is from Algeria, his mother from Tunisia. Both had emigrated to France from their respective countries of origin and settled in the Moselle department .

Demai began playing football in 1994 as a right-back in the Uckange USAG youth team in France. After playing in the youth of FC Woippy, he went to the Center de Formation of FC Metz in 1998 . In 2000 he was included in the squad of the professional team, which then played in Ligue 1 , but without coming to a use in his first season. It was not until the 2001/02 season that he made his professional debut; on November 4, 2001 he was substituted on in the game against AJ Auxerre in the 72nd minute for Grégory Proment . Even after relegation to the second division in 2002, he could not conquer a regular place. In the 2002/03 season, in which the direct promotion succeeded, he came to nine season appearances, including eight in the league. After his chances of playing had not improved in the 2003/04 season, he moved to the 2004/05 season over the nearby German-French border and signed with the then second division and promoted 1. FC Saarbrücken .

The defender made his debut for Saarland on August 8, 2004, when he was in the starting eleven in the 2-0 defeat by Rot-Weiß Erfurt . In the following years Demai became a regular at 1. FC Saarbrücken. During the season Demai came on 31 missions in which he scored two goals. Also in the 2005/06 season Demai was a regular player, but the team missed relegation and was relegated to the regional league. During the season he came to 32 missions and three hits.

Demai stayed in the 2nd Bundesliga and was hired by 1. FC Kaiserslautern , who had previously been relegated from the Bundesliga . On June 28, 2006 he signed a contract with FCK until 2009 after a successful medical examination. Demai was a regular at the start of the season. He was seriously injured on November 24, 2006, the 14th matchday, in a duel with Robert Strauss in the game against FC Augsburg and was out until the end of the season. On August 26, 2007 Demai made his comeback when he was called up in the starting eleven on matchday three against SpVgg Greuther Fürth . While Kaiserslautern was still playing for promotion in 2006/07, the team was stuck in a relegation battle the following season and only saved themselves on the last day of the game with a 3-0 win against 1. FC Köln. Demai made 29 appearances during the season. In the 2008/09 season, Kaiserslautern belonged to the promotion candidates in the first half of the season, but collapsed in the second half of the season and ended the season in seventh place in the table. After three years and 70 second division appearances in Kaiserslautern, Demai moved to Alemannia Aachen for the 2009/10 season .

Since he was injured in the pre-season, he made his debut for Aachen on September 20, 2009, when he was used in the 2-0 win against TSV 1860 Munich . He played a total of 21 games in the 2009/10 season. In the following season Demai was only a regular player at times. On April 28, 2011, Peter Hyballa , the then coach of the Aachen Alemannia announced that he was planning the new season without Demai. He finished the season. In the summer of 2011, he completed a trial session at his former club, FC Metz. However, Demai turned down a contract offer that had been made to him.

In the new season Demai first played for the amateurs of Alemannia in the fifth-class NRW league . After Hyballa was released, Friedhelm Funkel took over the coaching position. This brought Demai back into the professional squad. Demai made his comeback on October 16, 2011, when he was in the starting eleven against Dynamo Dresden on matchday 11 ; against Dresden Demai made the goal to mean 1-0. By the end of the season he had 21 missions and three more hits. At the end of the season there was relegation to the 3rd division . In May 2012 Demai extended his contract to 2015. Demai moved back to his old place of work in January 2014 after keeping fit for a long time at Alemannia.

After Christian Benbennek's resignation , Demai acted as interim coach alongside Sven Schaffrath . Overall, they coached the 1st team of Alemannia Aachen in 2 games in December 2015. In January 2016, Fuat Kılıç took over the vacant coaching position. At the end of the 2015/2016 season, Demai announced that he would end his active career at Alemannia.

National team

Demai played for Algerian youth teams. In 2003 he played an international match for Algeria's senior team . On February 11, 2009 Demai was appointed to the squad of the Tunisian national team for the first time .
