A in the dock in Kiel

The Howaldtswerke- German shipyard was established to build the steel and aluminum ship the order. The project name was first "SF99" (Starck-Francis, 99 meters), then "Sigma". The design comes from the French designer Philippe Starck and the French design office of Martin Francis. The outer shape reminiscent of the Zumwalt class of the United States Navy , a warship with smaller radar signature, the waves with the bow cuts. The Dutch shipyard Feadship is also following this for some of its buildings. The Predator , built in 2008, also got this look.

The price for this ship is said to have been around 200 million euros.

Furnishing

Philippe Starck was also responsible for the interior design: there are three elevators, an owner's suite and six guest suites. The ship is powered by two 20-cylinder diesel engines from MAN Diesel & Turbo , each with an output of 9,000  kW . With a tank capacity of 757,000 liters of marine diesel oil , the A can cover a distance of 6,500  nautical miles (approx. 12,000 km) at a cruising speed of 19  knots . The maximum speed is 23 knots.
