A King's Story is a 1967 British documentary based on the autobiography of the same name and a memoir by Sydney Box .

action

The film is a biography of the former English King Edward VIII. Using film recordings, newsreel excerpts and photographs, the life of the monarch, who abdicated as king in December 1936 after only 10 months, is presented.

The Prince of Wales , Queen Victoria's great-grandson , is shown attending school and later serving in the Royal Navy. He is later introduced to the duties of his royal position. This is followed by recordings of his travels as ambassador of England and his accession to the throne as King Edward VIII. Recordings of meetings with his American lover Wallis Simpson are shown. The romance was made public. Edward was forced to abdicate in order to marry Wallis. As a climax, King Edward reads his abdication speech.
