Since 2006 Peyker has been running the music project A Thousand Fuegos (German: “One Thousand Fire”). Initially on the road as a folk artist with acoustic guitar and assigned to the so-called lo-fi , his musical spectrum expanded to include elements of indie rock and post-rock. He also incorporated more and more elements of electronic music into his art. For some time, A Thousand Fuegos also appeared as a band with the accompanying musicians Andreas “Fettkakao” Dvorak (bass) and Rudi Hebenstreit (drums) before Peyker continued solo with The Treachery of Things . Peyker incorporates elements of his artistic activity in his music, he explains his concept on FM4 :

"Objects and concepts always have a certain attribution, I am interested in what happens when you withdraw this attribution and let them become something total."

- Matthias Peyker

His works have appeared mainly on the two independent labels, Fettkakao and Seayou Records, who are friends . He played guitar and glockenspiel for the band Vortex Rex and drew their covers.

In 2013 A Thousand Fuegos was nominated for the FM4 Award, which is presented as part of the Amadeus Austrian Music Award .
