Abaré , officially Município de Abaré , is a municipality in the state of Bahia , Brazil .
geography
It lies on the right side of the Rio São Francisco , the border river to the state of Pernambuco . The state road BA-210 runs through the village , the distance to the capital Salvador is 550 km. Surrounding places are Belém de São Francisco , Chorrochó and Curaça .
history
The municipality received the right to self-government on July 19, 1962.

After the local elections in 2016, the city prefect (mayor) is Fernando Jose Teixeira Tolentino des Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) for the 2017-2020 term .
