Accolay on the River Cure and the Canal d'Accolay

Accolay is a French commune déléguée in the commune of Deux Rivières in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region . It was in the Yonne department , in the Auxerre arrondissement and in the canton of Vermenton . The population is 446 (as of January 1, 2017). Accolay is located on the River Cure and the Canal d'Accolay , a branch of the Canal du Nivernais .

Accolay is located within the defined boundaries of the Burgundy wine region . Defined areas are approved for the production of wines under the Bourgogne Designation of Origin .

On January 1, 2017, the Accolay municipality merged with Cravant to form the Commune nouvelle Deux Rivières.

With 409 inhabitants most recently (as of January 1, 2013), Accolay was one of the smaller communities in the Yonne department. From the early 1960s to 1990, only relatively small fluctuations were recorded. Since then the number of inhabitants has increased constantly.
