Ace Ventura 3 - Pet Detective (original title: Ace Ventura Jr: Pet Detective ) is an American action - adventure - comedy from 2009. It was produced for television and was different from the two previous Ace Ventura - A animal detective (1994) and Ace Ventura - It's getting wild (1995) not in the cinema. In Germany it was broadcast for the first time on August 28, 2010 on ProSieben . Jim Carrey , who played the title role in the first two films, is not back. Instead, Josh Flitter plays Ventura's 12-year-old son, Ace Ventura Jr., in the film. and thus takes on the leading role in the film.

12 year old Ace Ventura Jr. ( Josh Flitter ) lives alone with his mother Melissa Ventura ( Ann Cusack ). His father Ace Ventura (the character of Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura - An Animal Detective and Ace Ventura - Now it's getting wild ) who once disappeared over the Bermuda Triangle on an expedition to rescue wild geese, for the purpose of which he was traveling in an ultralight aircraft . His mother is employed at the local zoo. When two pandas are loaned to him from China and one of them is kidnapped at night, Melissa is accused of the act and arrested by the senior officer in the investigation of the National Agency for Fish and Game Russel Hollander . Melissa asks Ace's grandfather, Grandpa Ventura ( Ralph Waite ), to take care of the boy so that Ace doesn't have to fend for himself . This informs Ace about the family tradition with the special connection to the animal world. Ace sets out to find the missing panda and thus prove his mother's innocence. His new friends A Plus and Laura help him with this . Together they discover that Dr. Sickinger must have kidnapped the animal. When they want to ask him, he can convince them of his innocence. Together, they determine that the Penningtons are the real culprits.
