3,4-Dimethoxyacetophenone ( Acetoveratrone , 4-Acetylveratrol ) is an aromatic compound that is derived from both acetophenone and veratrole (1,2-dimethoxybenzene). The structure consists of a benzene ring with an attached acetyl group  (-COCH 3 ) and two methoxy groups  (-OCH 3 ) as substituents .

In Erich Neitzel's work, the analogy of name choice for the derivatives of acetovanillion is used, e.g. For example : Acetoveratrone , derived from Veratrum aldehyde , and Acetoprotocatechon ( 3,4-dihydroxyacetophenone , derived from Protocatechu aldehyde ).

It is prepared from veratrole and acetyl chloride by means of Friedel-Crafts acylation .
