Achill Rumpold

Achill Rumpold (born June 14, 1974 - February 27, 2018 ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From January to August 2012 he was regional councilor in the Carinthian regional government Dörfler II .

education and profession

Rumpold visited after the elementary school in Klagenfurt and Himmelberg sports school in Feldkirchen and then graduated from the state secondary schools in Feldkirchen. He then studied law at the University of Graz and completed his studies with the academic degree Mag. Jur. from. Between 2002 and 2004 he worked as a political advisor to Georg Wurmitzer and was then office manager of Regional Councilor Josef Martinz between 2004 and 2007 . In 2007 he took over the role of state party secretary of the ÖVP Carinthia and was in charge of politics, public relations and the media.

Rumpold began his political career as chairman of the Young People's Party (JVP) von Sirnitz , where he held this position from 2000 to 2005. He was also JVP district chairman of Feldkirchen from 2003 and vice mayor of Sirnitz from 2003. After Regional Councilor Martinz withdrew, Rumpold was elected as his successor in the Dörfler II regional government on January 19, 2012 with 18 of 33 votes cast and took over the areas of agriculture, EU, trade, tourism, economy, municipalities, staff and special needs allocations.

On August 2, 2012 it was announced that Rumpold would resign as member of the regional council, as the new executive party chairman Gabriel Obernosterer wanted to put together a new team. He was succeeded by Wolfgang Waldner , who until then was State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry.

Rumpold lived in Albeck . He died of cancer at the age of 43 .
