Aco Petrović (born October 14, 1959 in Požega , SR Serbia , † December 1, 2014 ) was a Serbian basketball coach . After Petrović had initially trained the now merged Belgrade clubs KK Roter Stern and KK FMP in his home country for a long time , he was last in Russia again in the 2012/13 season for the UNICS club from Kazan , which he had from 2007 to 2009 had trained. As a coaching assistant for the rest of the Yugoslav and Serbian national teams , he was involved in winning titles at the 2001 European Basketball Championship and the 2002 World Basketball Championship . Petrović should not be confused with the Croatian of the same age, Aleksandar Petrović , the older brother of Dražen Petrović , who is also nicknamed Aco or Aza.
