Adalbero Fleischer

Adalbero Fleischer CMM (born January 4, 1874 in Dettelbach , † March 19, 1963 in Mariannhill, South Africa ) was a Roman Catholic missionary and bishop and Vicar Apostolic of Marianhill in South Africa.

Life

Michael Fleischer was born the fourth of nine children. In 1895 he graduated from high school and then studied theology at the University of Würzburg . He entered the seminary in Würzburg . In Würzburg he became a member of the KDStV Markomannia Würzburg in the CV . In 1898 he received the subdiaconate ordination, a short time later the diaconate ordination. On 30 July 1899 he was the Bishop of Wurzburg Ferdinand of Schlör for priests ordained. After pastoral work in Rimpar, he was transferred to the Juliusspital in Würzburg in 1901.

In 1908 he joined the Trappist Monastery of Mariannhill. On December 8, 1908, his dressing took place and he received the religious name Adalbero. On December 26th, 1909, he made his first profession in the new order of the Mariannhiller Missionaries . After a religious activity in Triashill in Rhodesia, he was elected the first superior general of the Mariannhiller missionaries after the reorganization in 1920.

On May 22, 1922, he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of the Mariannhill Mission Area and Titular Bishop of Tiberiopolis . On August 15, 1922, he was ordained bishop by the Vicar Apostolic of Natal Bishop Henri Delalle OMI . Co- consecrators were the Vicar Apostolic of the Cape of Good Hope , Bishop Hugh McSherry and the Vicar Apostolic of Basutoland ( Lesotho ), Bishop Jules-Joseph Cénez OMI. His motto was: Justitia et Pax .

In 1922 he founded the Congregation of Sisters of the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi (FSF) and in 1923 the Franciscan Familiar of St. Joseph (FFJ). In 1925 Bishop Fleischer founded a seminary in Ixopo ( KwaZulu-Natal ) and in 1928 in Mariathal. In 1947 he was appointed by Pope Pius XII. appointed papal assistant to the throne .

He retired in 1950, but was still active in South Africa. Fleischer was buried on March 27, 1963 in St. Joseph's Cathedral in Mariannhill.
