Adalbert Rank

Adalbert Rank (* 5. March 1928 ; † 9. April 2019 ) was a German educationalist and emeritus professors .

The nephew of the pedagogue Martin Rang studied teaching for elementary schools at the Pädagogisches Institut Weilburg (Lahn) and taught in Frankfurt am Main from 1951 to 1964, interrupted by a study visit to the USA. He then sponsored many student stays in the USA. He did his doctorate in 1964 under Adorno and Martin Rang. After assisting in Frankfurt and Tübingen, he was appointed to the Berlin University of Education in 1968 , where he taught until 1982. Then he moved to the University of Amsterdam until 1993 .

The first publication concerned his grandfather Florens Christian Rang in 1959 . The dissertation was on The Political Pestalozzi . Then he dealt with the comprehensive school and the support level . He repeatedly included American perspectives in his studies.
