Adam Johann Braun (* 1748 in Vienna ; † March 20, 1827 there ) was an Austrian genre painter .

Life

At the age of twelve he began studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Johann Christian Frister , Caspar Franz Sambach and Martin van Meytens .

From 1768 he worked as a freelance artist in Vienna. In 1782 he created the altarpiece depicting St. Johannes Nepomuk for St. Rupert's Church . From 1786 he showed his works at academy exhibitions in St. Annahof .

In 1789 he became a member of the Academy of Arts. At around the same time he was appointed valuer for painting "by the kk Nieder-Österreichischen Landrechte and the kk customs gradient administration". Adam Johann Braun was also known as an art dealer and restorer.

Works

His oil paintings are in the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna and in the Austrian Belvedere Gallery , copper engravings in the Academy of Fine Arts.
