Adam fair weather Heimbach , Latinized also Adam Serenaurus (* around 1465 in Oberheimbach ; † 25. December 1519 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German lawyer.

life and work

Schönwetter's father Nikolaus von Heimbach called Schönwetter (Serenaurus) immigrated from Oberheimbach to Frankfurt and became the municipal lawyer there in 1478 . After completing his law degree, his son Adam was accepted into the noble society of Alten Limpurg in 1489 and acquired Frankfurt citizenship in 1491. In 1493 he became a city lawyer.

After the opening of the Reich Chamber Court on October 31, 1495, he worked there briefly as a lawyer. The Reich Chamber Court ruled on the basis of common law , whereby the Reich Chamber Court Code of August 7, 1495 provided for particular law and customary law to take precedence in cases of conflict , provided that one of the parties argued. The City Council of Frankfurt therefore commissioned Schönwetter in 1500 to systematically compile the law applicable in Frankfurt - which consisted of individual statutes and ordinances - and, if necessary, to adapt it to the principles of common law. In 1509 Schönwetter presented the result, the Frankfurt Reformation . This code formed the basis of Frankfurt's particular law for almost 500 years until the introduction of the civil code on January 1, 1900.

Schönwetter died on December 25, 1519 in Frankfurt. His family died out in 1521. The Schönwetterstrasse in Frankfurt-Dornbusch has been remembering him since 1915 .
