Adam Wheeler (born March 24, 1981 in Lancaster , California ) is an American wrestler . He won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . Light heavyweight style.

Career

Adam Wheeler grew up in Lancaster and attended high school there, where he also began wrestling with coach John Einsel. He joined the US Navy Coast Guard at the age of 18. He was part of the wrestling team there and between 2001 and 2004 participated several times in the Navy championships in Greco-Roman. Style, taking places between two and four. Also in the next few years he participated regularly in the USA championships and was US runner-up from 2005 to 2007 and came in 2008 in 3rd place in the light heavyweight division. In the eliminations for participation in the World Championships, he took second place in 2005 and 2007 and fourth place in 2006.

2006 Adam Wheeler represented the United States at the Pan American Championship in Rio de Janeiro and came in the light heavyweight (Greco-Roman style) behind the Cuban Alain Rivas on the 2nd place.

In 2008 he managed to defeat his old rivals RC Johnson and Justin Ruiz at the US Olympic Trials for the Beijing Light Heavyweight Games and qualify for the Beijing Games.

In Beijing he defeated Lajos Virág from Hungary and Jiang Huachen from the People's Republic of China on points and met the German Mirko Englich in the semifinals , against whom he lost in two rounds. In the battle for the bronze medal , he then defeated Han Tae-Young from Korea safely on points.
