Aslanbek Vitalievich Kushtov

Aslanbek Witaljewitsch Chuschtow ( Russian Асланбек Витальевич Хуштов ; born July 1, 1980 in Beloglinka , Kabardino-Balkaria ) is a Russian wrestler . He was European champion in Tampere in 2008 and Olympic heavyweight champion in Greco-Roman style in Beijing .

Career

Aslanbek Chuschtow comes from the Russian republic of Kabardino-Balkaria . He started wrestling as a teenager in 1993. In the course of his career so far he had Mikhail Gamzin, Yuri Bitokow and Anzor Kardanow as coach. He is a member of "Gladiator" Nalchik , 1.80 m tall and weighs about 95 kg. He focuses exclusively on the Greco-Roman style.

Aslanbek Chuschtow needed a relatively long time in view of the strong competition in Russia before he advanced into the Russian top class and also came to appearances in international championships. He was accepted into the Russian national team in 2004. In 2005 he competed in the Grand Prix of Germany in Dortmund in the light heavyweight and finished behind Olympic champion Hamza Yerlikaya from Turkey and Fritz Aanes from Norway to 3rd place. In the same year he also took part in the "Pytlasinski" tournament in Racibórz , where he finished third behind Lajos Viragh from Hungary , but ahead of Ramas Nosadze from Georgia .

2006 Aslanbek Chuschtow was used Russian light heavyweight champion and at the world championship this year in Guangzhou, China . He met there in his first fight against Ramas Nosadze, which he lost on points (1: 3 rounds). Since Nosadze was eliminated in the quarter-finals, Aslanbek Chuschtow did not make it into the round of hopes and only reached 20th place in the final accounts.

In 2007 Aslanbek Chuschtow achieved very good placements at some international tournaments and at the World Military Championships in Hyderabad . At the "Pytlasinski" tournament in Warsaw he came third behind the two Hungarians Balázs Kiss and Laszlo Viragh, achieved the same place at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Szombathely behind Balázs Kiss and ex-world champion Jimmy Lidberg from Sweden and was also at the military world championship behind Mehmet Özal from Turkey and Georgios Konstantinidis from Greece third winner.

In 2008 he won the "Ivan Poddubny" tournament in Moscow, the light heavyweight competition in front of his compatriots Vasily Teplochow and Maksim Safarjan. This was followed by his first use at an international championship at the European Championships in Tampere . He was able to convince there completely and became European champion with five wins. In the final battle he defeated the German champion Mirko Englich on points (2: 1 round wins). With this victory he also fought for the ticket to the Olympic Games in Beijing .

He demonstrated his current good form at the Spanish Grand Prix in June 2008 when he won the light heavyweight division ahead of Hamid Sarshoghi from Iran and Jacob Cedergren from Sweden.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 Aslanbek Chuschtow won over Ässet Mämbetow from Kazakhstan , who was subsequently suspended for doping , Daigoro Timoncini from Italy , Mindaugas Ezerskis from Lithuania , Marek Švec from the Czech Republic and in the final battle, as at the European Championships in Tampere, against Mirko Englich on points and thus became Olympic champion .

The year 2009 also began very successfully for Aslanbek Chuschtow, because he became European champion in Vilnius with four wins in a superior style . In the semifinals he won it over Marek Švec and in the final over Mindaugas Ezerskis, two wrestlers he had defeated in Beijing. At the 2009 World Cup in Herning / Denmark he started with victories over David Vála , Czech Republic, Ramas Nosadze , Georgia and Serkan Oezden , Turkey. It was astonishing how hopeless these opponents were against him. In the semifinals he met the Swede Jimmy Lidberg , whom he obviously underestimated. Lidberg offered Aslanbek Chuschtow energetic resistance and managed to defeat him with 2: 1 rounds at 7: 7 points just on points. This meant that he could only win a bronze medal. He then won this with a - again very high - points victory over Sergei Yeroshkin from the Ukraine.

At the 2010 European Championships in Baku, Aslanbek Chuschtow was again vastly superior to his competitors. He won the European title with victories over Sabuchi Humbatow, Azerbaijan, Soso Jabidze, Georgia, Andrzej Deberny, Poland and Timofei Deinichenko. He scored 8-0 round wins and 28-0 points. At the 2010 World Cup in Moscow , however, he again failed to win the title. He defeated in Moscow first Aldas Lukosaitis from Lithuania , Ässet Mämbetow, Kazakhstan and Robert Papp , Romania clearly on points, but was defeated in the semifinals against the Iranian newcomer Amir Ali-Akbari just on points. With a victory over David Saldadze he was able to secure the bronze medal again. A few weeks later, however, Amir Ali-Akbari was convicted of doping and banned. It is possible that he was already doped in the fight against Aslanbek Chuschtow.
