Rustam Stanislavowitsch Totrow
Rustam Stanislawowitsch Totrow ( Russian Рустам Станиславович Тотров ; * July 15, 1984 ) is a Russian wrestler . He won a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships in Istanbul and a silver medal in the Greco-Roman style light heavyweight division at the 2012 Olympic Games in London .
Career
Rustam Totrow grew up in North Ossetia / Alania and began wrestling as a teenager in Vladikavkas in 1998. He focuses on the Greco-Roman style. He is now a member of the WC Torpedo Tyumen sports club , but mostly trains at the Russian wrestler's center in Moscow . At times he also competed for the Partizan Belgrade sports club . His trainers were or are W. Gaglojew, W. Urujmagow, S. Worobiew and SW Batkow. At a height of 1.85 meters, he wrestles in the light heavyweight category, the weight class up to 96 kg body weight.
He was already one of the top Russian wrestlers in his age group in the youth field. To use in an international championship but he only came in 2004, when he at the Junior European Championships in Murska Sobota in the middleweight was used. But he lost his first fight there against the Greek Vassilios Kollaros and was only able to fight for 10th place with a victory over Ahmet Yildirim from Turkey .
In the following years he fought for some good placements in international tournaments. In 2007 he came in the Russian championship in the light heavyweight behind Roman Martschenko and Vasily Teplouchow on the 3rd place. In 2008 he succeeded for the first time to be Russian light heavyweight champion before Vasily Teplouchow and Nikolai Kurakow. At the Russian championships in 2009 and 2010 he did not get a place among the winners, but in 2011 he became the Russian runner-up champion. In 2011 he won the renowned "Ivan Poddubny" memorial in Tyumen in front of the Russian elite of light heavyweights, namely Artur Schachbanow , Olympic champion Aslanbek Chuschtow and Nikita Melnikow .
Because of these successes, he was then used at the European Championships in Dortmund . He won there first over Dejan Frankovic from Serbia , but lost his second fight against Elis Guri from Bulgaria just on points. Since Guri did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came in 10th place. After he had rehabilitated himself with a tournament victory at the "Wladyslaw-Pytlasinski" memorial in Radom , where he won ahead of Timofei Deinichenko from Belarus , Irakli Kadschaia, Georgia and Nikita Melnikow, he was also used at the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul . He won there over Zbignevs Romanovskis, Latvia and Daigoro Timoncini , Italy , but then lost again to Elis Guri (1: 2 rounds, 5: 6 points). But Guri became world champion and Rustam Totrow was therefore able to fight for a bronze medal at the World Cup by winning over Sinisa Hogac from Croatia and Mohamad Abd El Fatah from Egypt .
Towards the end of 2011 he successfully represented Russia's light heavyweight relay team with Nikita Melnikow at the team tournaments "Moscow Light" and "Oleg Karawajew" Memorial in Minsk.
Rustam Totrow was also at the Olympic Games 2012 in London used. He was in excellent shape there and won the silver medal . On the way there he defeated Schalwa Gadabadse from Azerbaijan , Jimmy Lidberg from Sweden and Timofei Deinichenko from Belarus. In the final he was defeated by the all surprising Iranian Ghasem Gholamreza Rezaei .
In 2013, Rustam Totrom was beaten by Nikita Melnikov in the final of the Russian championship . Since then he has not played in an international championship. In May 2014, however, together with Nikita Melnikow, he represented the Russian colors at the World Cup in Tehran, a team competition won by Iran. He won there over Ilya Nastochenko, Kazakhstan and Daren Burns from the United States.
