Adama Niang (born January 9, 1975 in Dakar ) is a Senegalese football player . The defender played for many years in the German regional and major leagues.

Career

Niang joined the ASC Diaraf football school in the state capital Dakar as a child , went through various youth teams and became a junior national player. In 1995 he won the state championship with the club's first team. In 1999 he was given the opportunity to audition for Borussia Mönchengladbach through contacts . Since their professional team was in the training camp when he arrived, he initially trained at KFC Uerdingen 05 and immediately convinced coach Peter Vollmann of his qualities. After his subsequent trial training at Gladbach was unsuccessful and his visa threatened to expire, he accepted the offer of the regional league club. Due to a broken fibula he missed the season finale 1999/2000, in which Uerdingen qualified for the new two-track regional league on the last day of the game and was also out for a long time in the following season, so that it was only enough for 25 appearances in two years.

In 2001, "Addi" and his teammates Rudi Istenič and Daniel Teixeira were brought from Vollmann to Eintracht Braunschweig , but only made six appearances in the 2001/02 regional league season due to injury when Braunschweig was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . Even in the second division season, the defensive line plagued several injuries and was able to participate in only eleven games in the direct relegation. Subsequently, Niang moved to regional league competitor Preußen Münster , where he completed 47 games until he left in December 2005. From January 2006 he was under contract with Bonner SC and played a total of 117 league games until his departure in the summer of 2010, in 2009 he rose with the club to the Regionalliga West . He then continued his career until 2013 in the amateur field with Sportfreunde Troisdorf 05 . In 2015 he got his coaching license and started his first coaching position at the amateur club GSK Galatasaray Cologne under sports director Wolfgang Jerat .
