Daniel Lourenço Teixeira (born April 20, 1968 in Belo Horizonte ), nicknamed Texas , is a former Brazilian soccer player who played in Germany from 1999 .
Personal
Daniel Teixeira comes from the Brazilian middle class , his father is an engineer and university professor, his mother a housewife. He studied foreign trade at the University of Belo Horizonte. Teixeira is married to his wife Soraia, has three daughters and lives in Belo Horizonte.
Athletic career
Teixeira began his football career with the Brazilian club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte , for whom he played from 1989 to 1993. Ronaldo played partly at the same time as Teixeira in the club. With Cruzeiro he won the Brazilian cup competition in 1993. In between he was loaned from January 1991 to December 1992 for two seasons to the Japanese club Nippon Denso SC . From 1993, Daniel Teixeira switched between the Portuguese clubs, Seixal (until 1994 ), Marítimo Funchal and Nacional Funchal .
In 1999 his career began in Germany, at KFC Uerdingen 05 , where he played in the regional league from 1999 to 2000 . For the second half of the 2000/01 season he was loaned to league competitor 1. FC Union Berlin . In this half-series Teixeira scored 18 of 36 goals for Union and within a short time became the crowd favorite of the Köpenicker . Required by the Uerdingern transfer fee was not willing to pay Union at the end of the season, so that "Texas", as he was known since its Uerdinger time, left the club again and Eintracht Braunschweig hired, with whom he 2001/02 in the Second Bundesliga up and in the following season relegation back to the Regionalliga Nord.
After a season with the regional league team Holstein Kiel ( 2003-2004 ), he moved to Rot-Weiss Essen and then back to Union Berlin. Union played in the fourth-class Oberliga Nordost the following season , with Teixeira becoming the league's top scorer with 24 goals. In the 2006/07 season he played with Union in the Regionalliga Nord, announced the end of his career at the age of 39 at the end of the season and was bid farewell to the club at the last home game of the season against VfB Lübeck (1-1). In his last season he scored 13 goals in the Berlin Cup and with four goals played a key role in the 7-0 final win over Köpenicker SC . Union played in the DFB Cup in the 2007/08 season . On October 13, 2007 he was the first player in Union history to have a farewell game.
Managerial career
From 2007 to 2009 he worked for the Union Berlin association in the marketing and management area.
In March 2009 he successfully completed his sports and management studies and has been a licensed player agent since May 2009. On September 1, 2009 Teixeira became president of SG Prenzlauer Berg , for which he had previously played in the futsal team . Teixeira acquired the UEFA B football coach license from the DFB .
In 2011 Daniel Teixeira returned to his native Brazil. Here he graduated in business administration. Since March 1, 2016 he has been the director of his hometown club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte, where he had his first position as a professional footballer. At Cruzeiro, Teixeira took over the area for international business.
