Adamou Garba (officer)

Adamou Garba (born August 16, 1962 in Dimbokro , Ivory Coast ) is a Nigerien officer .

Life

Adamou Garba attended the Lycée Technique in Maradi after primary and secondary school , from which he graduated with a Baccalauréat . He joined the Nigerien armed forces in 1986 and attended the officers' school in Bouaké in Ivory Coast from 1988 to 1990 . He reached the rank of captain in 1996 and was appointed commander of the pioneer company of the Nigerien armed forces.

Garba was one of 14 officers on the Council of National Reconciliation , the military junta that ruled Niger from April to December 1999 after the overthrow of President Ibrahim Baré Maïnassara . In October 1999 he was promoted to Chef de bataillon . After returning to civilian government, Garba continued his military career. In 2002 he became the commander of the armed forces training camp in Tondibiah .

When a military junta, the Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy , temporarily took power in the state from February 2010 to January 2011 , Adamou Garba, now with the rank of lieutenant colonel , was its member again. He was promoted to colonel in July 2011 under the civilian president Mahamadou Issoufou .
