use
Adipohydrazide is a homobifunctional crosslinking reagent that is specific for aldehydes and leads to relatively stable hydrazone bonds . It is typically used in linking glycoproteins , such as antibodies, in a site-specific manner after periodate oxidation. Oxidation and coupling can conveniently be carried out at pH 5.0 because of the hydrazide's low pKa, which avoids competition by primary amines. The compound is also used as a formaldehyde scavenger (reacts with formaldehyde), which prevents the formaldehyde from evaporating in the air. It is also used as a paint additive and coating additive.
