The Adler Germania was a ferry from Adler-Schiff GmbH & Co. KG . The ship was sold in 2011 and scrapped in Esbjerg from September of that year .

history

The keel was laid on December 18, 1967, and it was launched on March 9, 1968 . The baptism took place on April 5, 1968. In May 1968 the ship was delivered under the name Insel Föhr after a test run to the Wyker steamship shipping company Föhr-Amrum in Wyk auf Föhr and then used between Dagebüll , Wyk and Wittdün .

In May 1980 the ship was chartered out to EH Rassmussen and used from Kappeln , Sønderborg , Søby and Neukirchen (Baltic Sea) for butter cruises in the Baltic Sea. Five months later it was finally sold to EH Rassmussen and renamed Thor Viking . In November 1980, a self-service market was set up on the former car deck and the main salon was enlarged.

Six years later, the ship was rebuilt again. This time the chimneys were added. The new home port of the Thor Viking was Kappeln. In the winter of 1999, the ferry was sold to Sven Paulsen ( Adler ships ) and renamed Adler Germania . After a conversion at the Lindenau shipyard , the Adler Germania was used between Altwarp and Nowe Warpno and later between Altwarp and Swinoujscie .

In 2001 it was dismantled to a car ferry. Until 2004 it was used on the line to Swinoujscie and then in Peenemunde launched . In 2007 the ship was brought back to Altwarp as a trailer.

In 2011, the demolition company Smedegaarden bought the ship and had it towed to Esbjerg / Denmark for scrapping in September 2012, where scrapping began in February 2012.
