Adolf Felix Heinrich Posse , also Adolph Felix Heinrich P. (born April 14, 1760 in Sondershausen ; † November 11, 1825 in Erlangen ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Adolf Felix Heinrich Posse was born the son of a church councilor and superintendent . He received his previous education partly in his hometown, but also in the school gate . He then devoted himself to studying history and law at the University of Göttingen . When his father died in 1783, he returned to Sondershausen until 1784 and immediately continued his studies at the University of Göttingen. In 1785 he received his doctorate and hired him as a private lecturer .

He worked as such for three years until in 1789 he became a full professor of state , feudal and German private law at the University of Rostock , which was reunited with the Bützower . During his activity there he was offered chairs at other universities several times, which would have resulted in higher wages for him, but Posse declined the offers. In 1805, after fifteen years at Rostock University, he finally changed his mind and took over a professorship at the University of Erlangen , at the same time he was also appointed royal Prussian court advisor and fourth member of the law faculty .

When the Principality of Bayreuth merged with the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1810 , Posse became a Bavarian subject. A few years later the University of Rostock asked Posse to come back, but in 1816 he refused both this and an offer as a full law professor at the University of Jena and as a senior appellate councilor . For the latter rejection, he gave age problems as the reason.
