Adolf Kern (Benedictine)
Adolf Kern OSB (born April 10, 1829 in Vienna ; † October 23, 1906 there ; actually Georg Kern ) was an Austrian Benedictine and pastor .
Life
Core came after the visit of the Vienna Schottengymnasiums in the 1849 Schottenstift one. He completed his theology studies at the University of Vienna , was ordained a priest in 1853 and was then initially a cooperator in Jenö (now Budajenö , Hungary ), and from 1861 in Ortisei . In 1869 he became curate and catechist at the Abbey Parish of the Scots, where he was also the sacristy director from 1871 . In 1881 he became a Knight of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher . During the restoration of the Schottenkirche, which was carried out from 1883 to 1887 , he was the authorized construction manager alongside the architect Julian Niedzielski . From 1891 he was pastor in Gumpendorf .
Kern combined his pastoral care with humanitarian commitment. He was co-founder of the Alland pulmonary hospital founded by Leopold Schrötter and Vice President of the Board of Trustees of the Kaiser Franz Joseph Outpatient Clinic . He has received numerous awards and honors for his charity towards the poor.
