Adolf Lohse , often also Adolph Lohse , (born August 30, 1807 in Berlin; † January 15, 1867 ; full name Adolf Hermann Lohse ) was a German architect and Prussian construction clerk . He was a student of Karl Friedrich Schinkel .

Lohse attended the Friedrichwerdersche Gymnasium, which he left in 1825 as a pupil of the upper secondary to devote himself to the construction subject. On 13 January 1827 he successfully passed the examination as a surveyor and was on May 3, as an official of the Royal Prussian District Government in Frankfurt an der Oder sworn and government building Kondukteur appointed. In 1828 he returned to Berlin to manage the construction of the state stud in Zirke until 1829 . The following years up to 1840 were filled with numerous state contracts, after which private buildings increasingly followed.

On March 27, 1847, Lohse passed his state examination as an agricultural and hydraulic engineering inspector . He was appointed royal master builder on December 11, 1849.

From mid-1855 Lohse made several extensive trips to France, Belgium, England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy and Switzerland. On June 1, 1857, Lohse resumed his work as a building inspector in Berlin. Because of his merits, he was appointed royal building officer on March 7, 1862 .

One of his works is Albrechtsberg Castle near Dresden . It was built between 1850 and 1854 for the Prussian Prince Albrecht , the youngest brother of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia and Emperor Wilhelm I , and his second wife Rosalie Countess von Hohenau nee von Rauch . The neighboring Lingner Palace was also built according to his plans for Baron Albert von Stockhausen , the prince's chamberlain .

In 1860 Lohse was entrusted by Prince Albrecht with the renovation of the Vernezobresches Palais at Wilhelmstrasse 102 in Berlin , which from then on went down in history as the Prinz-Albrecht-Palais .

Lohse could not complete the station hall for the Prussian Ostbahn in Berlin, the first Ostbahnhof .
