Adolf Poschmann

Adolf August Poschmann (born January 2, 1885 in Neuendorf in Warmia , † December 24, 1977 in Münster ) was a German pedagogue , local researcher and non-fiction author .

Life

August Poschmann was born in Neuendorf (today Nowa Wieś Mała) in the Heilsberg district in 1885 . He passed the Abitur in Braunsberg and studied German and history in Innsbruck, Berlin and Munich as well as geography in Königsberg . In Berlin he became a member of the CV connection Hansea, in Munich the KDStV Aenania Munich and in Königsberg the Tuisconia. In 1910 he was in geography at the Friedrich Hahn in Königsberg for his doctorate doctor . Subsequently he was senior teacher and then director of the German high school in Madrid as well as a teacher and from 1922 to 1945 director of the state high school in Rößel . In between he was director of the castle school in Braunsberg from 1930 to 1933. After the end of the war he headed the state advanced high school in Rüthen, Westphalia, until his retirement in 1950 .

For years, Adolf Poschmann researched constitutional and social history as well as church, cultural and economic history in Warmia and wrote monographs a . a. about the cities of Braunsberg, Rößel and Seeburg . This was followed by publications on the Augustinian monastery and the Jesuit college in Rößel.

From the end of the 1920s, August Poschmann was a member of the Historical Commission for East and West Prussian State Research and for many years a member of the Historical Association for Warmia . In recognition of his services as a teacher, headmaster and local history researcher, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 1960 .
