Adriaan Smets

Adriaan Smets (born August 27, 1867 in Dommelen , North Brabant Province , Netherlands ; † July 31, 1947 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Adriaan Smets received on 24 September 1892, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On January 13, 1922, Pope Benedict XV appointed him . to the Apostolic Delegate in Persia . Pope Pius XI appointed him on August 2, 1922 titular Archbishop of Gangra . The Prefect of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , Cardinal Wilhelmus Marinus van Rossum CSsR , donated him episcopal ordination on October 28 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the Secretary of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , Archbishop Pietro Fumasoni Biondi , and the President of the Pontifical Academy of the Immaculate Conception , Archbishop Jules Tiberghien .

Adriaan Smets resigned as Apostolic Delegate in Persia in 1930.
