Aeneas Silvius Appius (born September 6, 1960 in Basel ) is a Swiss endurance athlete who used to be active in football and is now active in running , duathlon and triathlon .
Career
Aeneas Appius played football in the Swiss leagues up to the age of 35 .
After 20 years in football, he started running in 1997 and has been a runner in the national masters elite since 1998 (track, cross, city, mountain and marathon). The multiple Swiss champion in long-distance running has been running duathlon (running, cycling and running) since 2014, triathlon (swimming, cycling and running) since 2016 and has been one of the world's top duathlons in his age category since 2016. In 2016 at his first European Duathlon Championship in Kalkar, he won the M55 age group.
He was regularly to be found at army championships and gun races in Switzerland and was a member of the successful Suisse team at the CISM Marathon World Championship in Biel in 2002 and was the first of the senior officers. From 2015 to 2018 he won the Swiss Duathlon series four times in a row in his age group. In 2015 and 2016 he became Swiss Duathlon Champion in the M55 category.
He is currently at home with 36 medals from national and international championships, including various duathlon titles as world, European and Swiss champions. His sporty palmares has over 600 races (running, cycling, duathlon and triathlon) with a podium rate of 64%.
Since 2017 he has been volunteering as a Swiss Duathlon Age Group Manager for popular sport and as a coach he accompanies athletes on their way to the top of the world junior and masters. He is the founder and member of the “Swiss Duathlon Gold Member Club”.
Private
Aeneas Appius has professional qualifications as a banker and sales consultant as well as a Master of Business Management , is married and has three grown children. His wife Anita is also active as a runner and duathlete.

- In January 2020, Aeneas Appius was honored with the “Volunteer Award” by the Swiss Triathlon Association .
