The Red Shoes Aerial Director's Cut

Aerial is a double album released in November 2005, making it the eighth studio album by Kate Bush . What is remarkable here is the twelve-year gap to the previous album - during this time Kate Bush had become a mother and had mainly taken care of her private life.

Like the hit album Hounds of Love , Aerial is divided into two parts:

  1. The first part of the double album, entitled A Sea of Honey , focuses on people and personalities (the respective title in brackets): Elvis Presley (1), the discoverer of the number Pi (2), her son Bertie (3), one Housewife (4), Johanna von Orleans (6) and Bush's late mother (7).
  2. The second part is called A Sky of Honey , is much more lyrical and deals with the topics of "bird flight" and "air". It begins with samples of bird calls, which then describe the following nine songs, what the birds see on their journey around the world, and others. a. Rome (2), a sunset (5) and the Atlantic (8). The songs merge into one another both melodically and in terms of content. B. in (4) a painter is described whose colors of his picture run in the rain and result in a beautiful sunset, which is then sung about in the next piece.
