Agent Provocateur (French for: " Provocative Agent") is the fifth studio album by the American - British rock band Foreigner . It was released on December 7, 1984 by their record label Atlantic Records .
background
The concept album tells the story of a spy who can see through life inside and outside of humans. It became the band's first number one album in the UK . In the US , the album only reached fourth place. Compared to its predecessor Records from 1982, the sales of this album were worse, but the album contained the band's most successful single, I Want to Know What Love Is , which became Foreigner's only number one hit in the UK and USA. The second single That Was Yesterday reached number 12 in the US. The album went platinum in the UK and triple platinum in the US.
