action

After Agnieszka spent five years in prison for her boyfriend at the time, she steals money from her father's house for a new start in Germany, promises her younger brother that he will soon catch up with him and takes revenge on her ex.

She arrives in Munich and gets to know the aging former ballerina "Madame" who, after a little "work trial", offers her a job as a dominatrix in her escort service.

She doesn't need training because life has taught her to be hard. Agnieszka soon becomes Madame's best “crocodile” and something of a foster daughter.

But then she meets 16-year-old Manuel, who is impressed by her and feels drawn to her. At first she keeps him at a distance, then she lets himself into him, so that a fragile friendship can develop. When she tells him that she makes a living by kicking men "in the balls", he takes them to their customers on his scooter and picks them up again. Madame is increasingly losing control of her best dominatrix and torpedoed the friendship of the two.

After a customer badly mistreated Agnieszka, Manuel brutally pushes her away because she believes it is only causing him trouble. Then she confronts her tormentor in his house in front of his wife and learns from him that the attack was discussed with "Madame". Now she is about to rearrange her relationships.

reception

Reviews

German-speaking critics received the film positively. They saw a “sober, almost documentary-looking social drama” “about the new beginning of a Polish immigrant in Germany”, which “does not require lengthy dialogues and many words”.

Director Rudzik not only draws the characters "with hard, realistic images", but also their "authentic milieu" and shows that he has a talent for "inventing original scenes in which the protagonists' personalities and emotional states are often suddenly revealed" . He stages "highly dramatic scenes, in which he does not depict violence and sexuality in a striking way, but rather suggestively suggests". He shows the "immigrant fate from a very idiosyncratic, exciting perspective".

Karolina Gorczyca carries the film by making “the constant inner tension of her character palpable behind a stoically serious expression”.

The film music is "used discreetly" and "pleasantly unobtrusive".
