history

The city of Agrolândia had two different phases of colonization. In 1911 two brothers came from the city of Lages (Ricardo and Domingos Alves Paes). They started deforestation and the planting of corn and beans. Some conflicts with Indians who lived nearby are reported. In 1913 the Paes Alves family moved their permanent residence to Agrolândia.

From 1916 onwards, other families came to colonize what was then called Trombudo Alto (large trunk). This is probably because the river has numerous curves and therefore resembles a trunk. The first mention of "Trombudo" (Serra do Trombudo) was on May 5, 1791 in a letter to the governor of the São Paulo captaincy, Bernardo José de Lorena . German immigrants had already reached Rio do Sul , to which the territory belonged, as early as 1880 . The pioneers in Agrolândia were u. a. John Will, Eduardo Will, Otto Zwick, Otto and Leopoldo Prochnow. Italian immigrants came later. The place is still shaped by the immigrants of German origin.

In 1957, Trombudo Alto became a district ( Distrito de Trombudo Alto ) of Rio do Sul , then in 1958 of Trombudo Central , and on June 12, 1962 the city was founded, which was then named Agrolândia by Law No. 831. The implementation of this name change is celebrated on July 25th every year as a city holiday.

geography

The biome is the Mata Atlântica , through which the Rio Trombudo flows in a north-south direction , which drains into the Rio Itajaí do Oeste . The area is hilly and wooded. According to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification, the climate is subtropical Cfa.

Surrounding places are Agronômica , Atalanta , Petrolândia , Otacílio Costa , Braço do Trombudo and Trombudo Central.

City administration

The first city prefect (mayor) was the merchant Adolfo Hedel, born in 1905. In the 2016 local elections, Urbano José Dalcanale des Partido do Movimento Democrático Brasileiro (PMDB) was elected for the 2017 to 2020 term of office ; the legislature rests with a city council (Câmara de Vereadores) made up of nine elected city councilors chaired by President Rejane Ana Schaade Sasse ( 14th legislative period).

Agrolândia is just one administrative district with its headquarters in the Centro, which also includes Bairro São João, Bairro São João, Bairro Três Barras, Bairro Siegel, Bairro Ipiranga and the rural settlements on the approximately 208 km² area of Serra dos Alves, Carrapatos, Serra Velha , Ribeirão Garganta, Rio Novo, Ribeirão das Pedras, Rio Bonito, São João, Ribeirão Xaxim, Ribeirão do Tigre, Valada do Tigre, Barra do Tigre and Pitangueira.

Infrastructure

Agrolândia can be reached via the federal and state roads BR-470 , SC-426 and from the east via the SC-481 . In addition to agriculture, tourism is also being developed, so it belongs to the tourist region known as Caminhos do Alto Vale . Statistically and geographically, the place belonged to the Rio do Sul microregion until 2017 and this to the Vale do Itajaí mesoregion .

The HDI is 0.725 and is considered high.
