Ahrin Mishan

Ahrin Mishan (* in Los Angeles , California ) is an American composer and documentary film director who became internationally known for his compositions for films such as Claire Dolan and Birds of America .

life and career

Ahrin Mishan was born in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a Masters Degree in Film and Anthropology in USC, he studied music in China , India and Southeast Asia . Together with director Nick Rothenberg, he directed the half-hour short documentary Bui Doi: Life Like Dust in 1994 . For this they won the IDA Award in 1994 and the Best Documentary Short Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in 1995 .

In 1998, at the Flanders International Film Festival, he and British composer Simon Fisher Turner were awarded the Georges Delerue Prize by director Lodge Kerrigan for the best score for the drama Claire Dolan with Katrin Cartlidge , Vincent D'Onofrio and Colm Meaney . In 2002 he composed the music for the film maker Ramin Serry for his film production Maryam .

In 2008, director Craig Lucas commissioned him to write the score for Birds of America , a drama starring Matthew Perry , Ben Foster and Ginnifer Goodwin . In 2011 he worked again as a composer for Ramin Serry. This time for the comedy Loveless .

In addition to his work for the film, Mishan also composed the music for numerous episodes of the series Ed - The Bowling Lawyer and Whoopi . He has also worked on numerous TV commercials with sound designer Nathaniel Reichman and Marshall Grupp.

Today Ahrin Mishan lives and works in New York .
