Aimé De Gendt (born June 17, 1994 in Aalst ) is a Belgian cyclist.
Athletic career
Aimé De Gendt began his cycling career above all with success on the track : he was several times junior champion in various disciplines. In 2011 he was also Belgian junior champion in the individual time trial . In 2013 he won a national elite title in the team pursuit with Otto Vergaerde , Jonas Rickaert and Tiesj Benoot .
In 2016 De Gendt signed a contract with Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise . In the same year he won the mountain classification of the Tour of Denmark . In 2018 he was second in the Grote Prijs Stad Zottegem and in 2019 in Le Samyn .
In 2019, De Gendt, now with the Wanty-Gobert team , started a major tour of the country for the first time and finished 136th in the overall standings at the Tour de France . After the 11th stage he was named the “most combative driver ”.
In March 2020, De Gent took second place at Le Samyn .
