The Aiterbach is an almost 30 km long right tributary of the Traun in Upper Austria .
course
The Aiterbach rises northeast of Etzelsdorf in the municipality of Pettenbach at the foot of the Magdalena mountain at an altitude of around 565 m above sea level. A. It flows north in a gently cut valley through the Traun-Enns-Riedelland and passes the communities of Ried im Traunkreis , Eberstalzell , Sattledt , Steinhaus and Thalheim near Wels and flows into the Traun near Wels . In its course it takes in only a few smaller tributaries.
Water flow
The mean discharge at the Oberschauersberg gauge is 0.71 m³ / s, which corresponds to a relatively low discharge rate of 10.4 l / s · km². The Aiterbach shows a balanced pluvio-nival discharge regime with the maximum in March and the minimum in September. The monthly mean of the month of March with the most discharge, at 0.88 m³ / s, is only around 30% higher than that of the month of September with the lowest discharge, with 0.64 m³ / s.
nature
The Aiterbach, which mostly flows away from larger settlements, is largely natural in its entire course, with meandering courses in places, wood along the banks or alluvial forests ( ash or ash, black alder and wet forests).
The wet meadows that accompany it in parts represent a habitat for wet meadow dwellers such as marsh grasshoppers or long-winged sword insects.
The Aiterbach counts for trout and grayling region, mainly fish species are brown trout and rainbow trout in the lower reaches of the grayling .
