al-Wasl Club ( Arabic نادي الوصل, DMG Nādī al-Waṣl ) is a sports club from Dubai , United Arab Emirates , founded in 1974. The club's football division plays in the country's highest league, the UAE Arabian Gulf League . The footballers play their home games in the Zabeel Stadium .
The greatest success of the seven-time champions was third place at the Asian Club Championship in the 1992/93 season. The last time they won the national championship and cup double was in 2007. In the 2000/01 season, the former national coach of Austria , Josef Hickersberger , was the coach of the men's soccer team.
From May 2011 to July 2012, the club was coached by the Argentine football idol Diego Maradona .
