Alan Howard Balsam (born April 2, 1950 in Los Angeles , California , † November 13, 1992 there ) was an American film editor .

Life

After graduating from California State University, Long Beach in 1972 , Alan Balsam began editing shorter commercials and short films before he was first allowed to work as an assistant editor on the TV documentary Heroes of Rock and Roll in 1979 . Just one year later, he took on the responsibility of editing the comedy Loose Shoes , with Bill Murray in a supporting role, for the first time . This was followed by other comedies such as The Revenge of the Egg Heads , A Very Crazy Summer and Moving - Backward into Chaos .

Alan Balsam died of AIDS on November 13, 1992 . His partner Stephen Schneider then founded the Foundation Alan Balsam Fund , which took care of the experience of AIDS sufferers.
