Alan van Sprang

Alan van Sprang (born June 19, 1971 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian actor .

Career

Van Sprang came into contact with acting during his school days. At Crescent Heights High School, he took an acting class, which made him want to be an actor.

He studied acting at Mount Royal College in Calgary and graduated with a diploma in 1992. In 1997 he starred in the premiere of Tom Stoppard's play Arcadia at the CanStage Theater in Toronto . He also played the taciturn farmer "MacMillan" in the scenic premiere of the play Missing by Florence Gibson . The piece premiered in February 2009. He has also appeared on some regional theaters. In touring productions he played in the play Washington Square by Augustus and Ruth Goetz (based on the novel by Henry James ) and in Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand .

Van Sprang made his television debut in 1994 in the TV series Robin's Hoods produced by Aaron Spelling . In 1995 he was seen as "Marshall Cameron" in Dangerous Intentions - Tatort Bedroom . The following year he appeared in three more films.

He subsequently took part in other TV series , for example Mission Earth - You Are Among Us and Paradise Falls . In Mission Earth he played the role of the hybrid leader "Howlyn" in the fifth season and was part of the main cast .

He had his big breakthrough in George A. Romero's Land of the Dead in 2005 and has worked with him regularly ever since.

In Saw III he was seen as "Chris". In 2009 he worked as "Nico Orso" in Phantom Punch . In the same year he played "Father Benedito" in Cra $ h & Burn . In The Tudors he was seen as "Sir Francis Bryan ". Since January 2016 he has been the "Valentine Morgenstern" in the Shadowhunters series , a film adaptation of the Chronicles of the Underworld .

Private

Van Sprang is a single father of one son.
