Career

Theodor Hagemann attended schools in Blankenburg and Quedlinburg . From 1780 he studied at the Helmstedt University Law . From Easter 1782 to September 29, 1784 he studied further at the University of Göttingen , among others with Johann Stephan Pütter . After receiving his doctorate in 1785, he also became a private lecturer there . He also taught law to young aristocrats from Liv and Estonia . At Easter 1786, Theodor Hagemann was appointed as an associate professor at the University of Helmstedt by the Braunschweig minister and university curator von Hardenberg on the recommendation of Pütter . He held the position for two years until, through another recommendation from Pütters, the Hanoverian government appointed him to the court advisor in the judiciary in Celle at Easter 1788 . In 1797 he became second court judge and in 1799 a member of the higher court of appeal . Albrecht Daniel Thaer had won him over to teach agricultural law at the Agricultural Training Institute in Celle. The French occupation prevented this, however, and from 1808 to 1811 Hagemann led the presidium of the special billeting commission. He also published on the Celle town and civil rights and supervised the Celle orphanage . In 1817 he was accepted into the Royal Society of Agriculture , of which his father was director from 1798 to 1802. From 1819 until his death due to illness he was finally director of the law firm in Celle.
