Another brother-in-law, husband of sister Marie Anna Fernandine (* 1829), was the Düsseldorf Italian painter Albert Flamm . A third brother-in-law, who married Arnz's eldest sister Marie (* 1825), was the history painter Joseph Fay . The von Arnz brothers were August (* 1813), who until his death in 1846 was the manager of the Leiden branch of Arnz & Comp. war, Carl (* 1821), also managing director at Arnz & Comp., as well as Otto (* 1823), who like Albert became a landscape painter, but maintained close contacts with the academy's realistically oriented group of artists, and finally Friedrich (* 1826), who in 1851 the sister Antonetta Josepha of the Düsseldorf portrait and genre painter Philipp Schmitz (1824-1887) married. Arnz's nephews were the animal painter Ludwig Fay , the driving sportsman Benno von Achenbach and the shipbuilding engineer Oswald Flamm . Albert Arnz was a member of the artists' association Malkasten , in whose performances of "living pictures" he participated in 1875. The address book of the mayor's office in Düsseldorf 1865 recorded his residence at Goltsteinstrasse 13, in the immediate vicinity of Oswald Achenbach, who lived in house number 9. His address for 1889 was at Schadowstrasse 52.
Works (selection)
Arnz painted atmospheric landscapes in Germany, Italy and Switzerland. His pictures show the Düsseldorf School's conceptions of art, many of which are related to the painting of his teacher Oswald Achenbach, especially through an effective treatment of light and color that enhances the atmosphere.
