Albert Bürklin (politician)

Albert Julius Anton Bürklin (born June 20, 1844 in Heidelberg ; † July 23, 1924 there ) was a German liberal politician.

Life

Professionally, he rose from high school councilor to high school councilor and received the title of a real privy councilor.

From 1884 to 1898 he was a member of the National Liberal Party in the Reichstag of the German Empire for the Reichstag constituency Palatinate (Bavaria) ; here he also held the office of vice-president and primarily represented the interests of German viticulture. Bürklin resigned his seat because the Reichstag refused to honor Otto von Bismarck on his 80th birthday.

From 1875 to 1880 Bürklin was also a member of the second chamber of the Baden state parliament , where he held the position of youth secretary. From 1905 to 1918 Bürklin was a member of the First Chamber of the Baden State Parliament and from 1905 to 1906 its second vice-president. Bürklin was then the first vice-president of the First Chamber from 1907 to 1918.

Bürklin was also general manager of the Karlsruhe court theater and acted as president of the Goethe Society from 1920 to 1922 .

Through his marriage to Luise Wolf, he became the owner of what is now the Dr. Bürklin-Wolf in Wachenheim , which he expanded into a quality winery. His father was the writer and railway engineer Albert Bürklin (1816–1890).

In 1863 he became a member of the Teutonia Freiburg fraternity .
