Albert Decker (painter)
Albert Decker (born June 18, 1817 in Colmar , † July 7, 1871 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter, lithographer and actor.
Life
Albert Decker was the son of the portrait painter of French descent Johann Stephan Decker (1783–1844). His brothers Georg Decker (1818–1894) and Gabriel Decker (1821–1855) also became portrait painters.
Decker and his family came to Pest in 1818 and to Vienna in 1821. Like his brothers, he became a pupil of his father and worked as a portrait painter in Vienna. Since 1839 he took part in art exhibitions.
After his father's death in 1844, he became an actor at the Theater an der Wien , but continued to do portraiture and lithography.
In 1846 he created the portrait lithograph with the group picture of the officer corps of the Second Vienna Citizens' Regiment.
