Albert Ellmenreich

Albert Ellmenreich (born February 10, 1816 in Karlsruhe , † May 30, 1905 in Lübeck ) was a German theater actor and writer .

Life

Ellmenreich was the son of Friederike Ellmenreich (nee Brandl) and Johann Baptist Ellmenreich . He grew up in the cities in which his mother was engaged: Hamburg (1817), Mannheim (1820) and Frankfurt am Main (1821).

There in Frankfurt Ellmenreich finished his school days and joined the choir of the Frankfurt theater in 1833. In 1834 he was hired to Altenburg . This was followed by guest appearances in Nuremberg (1834), Düsseldorf (1835) and Schwerin (1836). His mother lived with him in Schwerin until her death in 1845.

At the court theater in Schwerin Ellmenreich became a member of the ensemble and stayed until 1860. For one year, until 1861, he directed the theater in Rostock . Years of touring followed, which took him as an actor to Breslau, Meiningen, Mainz and Berlin. As a director he has worked in Rotterdam, Mainz, Frankfurt a. M., Krefeld, Bamberg, Würzburg, Riga, Danzig, Sigmaringen, and Posen. In 1883 Ellmenreich celebrated its 50th anniversary on the stage.

In 1884 he retired from the stage, retired and moved his household to Lübeck.

He was married to the actress Marie Lauber , so his sister-in-law was Auguste Lauber .
