Albert Grieder

Albert Grieder (born January 3, 1863 in Rünenberg , Canton of Basel-Landschaft , † January 12, 1938 in Liestal ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

He remained single for life and studied law at the Universities of Basel and Tübingen . In 1888 he graduated with a doctorate and was appointed chief clerk in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. He handed over this office in 1891 and was land clerk until 1893.

From 1893 to 1931 he was Councilor and headed alternately building, the church, the police, the military and the judiciary Directorate. He was elected regional president eight times for a year. From 1912 to 1919 he was also a member of the National Council .

In the economic field, he held the following mandates:

  • 1896–1899: Board member of the Nordostbahn
  • 1909–1924 on the central board of the Swiss Trade Association
  • 1912–1919: President of the Baselland Trade Association
  • 1912–1938: Member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Federal Railways
  • 1912–1938: Board member of the Waldenburgerbahn

In the military he was a lieutenant colonel and served as the army major judge from 1916 to 1931.
