Albert Höfer (born August 1, 1932 in Lamprechtshausen , Salzburg , Austria ) is an Austrian theologian , priest and psychotherapist .

Life

Höfer studied theology and philosophy in Salzburg, Munich , Vienna and Graz and was a listener to Romano Guardini , Martin Buber and Karl Rahner during this time . After his ordination in 1959, he received his doctorate in theology under Karl Amon at the theological faculty in Graz in 1963.

In 1966 he completed his habilitation in religious education , catechetics and homiletics at the University of Graz with the topic "Biblical catechesis, model of a reorganization of religious instruction in ten to fourteen year olds". In 1973 he was promoted to associate professor and in 2007 to university professor.

Despite his blindness in 1977, Höfer continues to work as a non-fiction author and adult educator. He has lived in Graz in Styria since 1957 .

Services

In 1966 Höfer was appointed director of the Religious Education Institute in Graz. In 1972 he was commissioned to set up the Religious Education Academy in Graz-Eggenberg and was appointed director of this training facility.

In 1981, Höfer completed an integrative gestalt therapy training at the Fritz Perls Institute in cooperation with the Institute for Pastoral Theology at the University of Graz. In 1983 he founded the Institute for Integrative Gestalt Education and Pastoral Care (IIGS) with Katharina Steiner and other employees . In 1991 he was recognized as an Austrian psychotherapist .

In March 2012 Höfer was accepted into the European Academy of Sciences and Arts .
