Albert Lepa

Albert Lepa (born December 9, 1907 in Hildesheim , † November 10, 1991 in Hanover ) was a German civil servant and sports functionary.

After graduating from high school in 1927, Lepa embarked on a career as a tax officer. In 1951 he was promoted to government councilor in 1964 to senior government councilor. Since his youth he has been active as a track and field athlete and as a foot and handball player . Since 1929 he was a member of the TK Hannover . In 1931 he became a national gymnastics supervisor, and between 1932 and 1938 he was head of the athletics department of the TK Hannover. He was also a sports warden and sports badge chairman for the city of Hannover. After the Second World War he became a sports warden of the district sports association, later head sports warden of the Lower Saxony sports association and then federal sports warden. At his instigation, sports badges were introduced in Lower Saxony in 1949. From 1952 to 1989 he was the sports badge officer of the German Sports Association . In 1955 Lepa became chairman of the Lower Saxony State Sports Association . He held this post until 1983, after which he was elected honorary chairman. In addition, Lepa was director of the Toto-Lotto-Gesellschaft between 1967 and 1984 before moving to the supervisory board. On April 16, 1974, Lepa was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his services to sport . In his honor, the State Sports Association of Lower Saxony awards the Albert Lepa Prize every year. For his services to sport in Lower Saxony , he was included in the Lower Saxony Sports Honor Gallery of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History.

Private

Albert Lepa was married. His daughter Marianne was a national volleyball player at times.
