Albert Vossen (* 22. May 1910 in Aachen ; † 10. August 1971 in Cologne ) was a German Jazz - accordionist , bandleader and composer .

Life

From 1925 to 1930 studied Vossen at the University of Music in Cologne piano . In 1930 he continued his studies in Berlin , but then switched to the piano accordion .

In 1932 he put together a band, Albert Vossen with his soloists , which became the house band of the then famous Berlin Ciro-Bar . With this ensemble, Vossen also recorded his first records with his own compositions for Telefunken . Vossen also stayed with Telefunken with his following bands and became one of the most famous and successful accordionists in Germany. In his band ( Albert Vossen and his soloists ) played a. a. Eugen Henkel , Ernst Höllerhagen , Hans Klagemann , Hans Korseck , Detlev Lais , Franz Mück , Kurt Weg and Rudi Wegener .

In 1942 Vossen became a soloist member of the German Dance and Entertainment Orchestra , a state-privileged ensemble of selected musicians.

After the end of the Second World War , Vossen settled in Cologne and continued his career as a musician. In 1948 Adalbert Luczkowski brought him to the entertainment orchestra of the NWDR ; he also played with his own jazz combo . Even in post-war Germany he was a popular interpreter and composer who continued to record, but also appeared on the radio and later on television . He also ran a restaurant called Im Örgelchen, popular with entertainers .

Vossen's recordings and compositions are still available today on sound carriers.
