Albert von Metzler (banker, 1839)
Gustav Albert Metzler , von Metzler since 1901 (born January 3, 1839 in Frankfurt am Main ; † March 25, 1918 ibid), was a German banker and politician.
Life
Gustav Albert von Metzler was born in Frankfurt am Main , the third of five children of Georg Friedrich Metzler (1806–1889) and Johanna Fuchs (1811–1882) .
Metzler lived in Liverpool from 1858 to 1862 and then in Paris from 1868 to 1870 . From 1883 he was a partner in the Metzler bank . He was also a member of the Degussa Supervisory Board . Since 1884 he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce . From 1880 Metzler was a member of the city council of Frankfurt am Main . In 1881 he was elected to the honorary city council. He held this post until 1912. In that year he also acted as a deputy mayor. Between 1886 and 1904 he was also the Bavarian Consul General in Frankfurt.
Metzler belonged to the National Liberal Party . Between 1885 and 1893 Metzler was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . Since 1904 he was a member of the Prussian manor house . In addition, he was committed to equestrian sport and was chairman of the Frankfurt Racing Club for many years. The elevation to the Prussian nobility took place on January 18, 1901 in Berlin for the brothers Albert and Carl Metzler (1835-1922).
Albert von Metzler is the great-grandfather of Friedrich von Metzler .
