Alberto Tomás Botía Rabasco (born January 27, 1989 in Alquerías , Murcia ) is a Spanish football player . The central defender has been under contract with the Greek record champions Olympiacos Piraeus since 2014 .

Career

At the age of eight, Botía joined CD Beniel , soon after he moved to the youth department of Real Murcia . In 2003, at the age of 14, he went to FC Barcelona. After playing in the Barcelona B team from 2006 to 2009, he made his professional debut on May 30, 2009 in a 1-1 draw against Deportivo La Coruña when he was substituted on for Gerard Piqué .

For the 2009/10 season he was loaned to Sporting Gijón . At Gijón he established himself as a regular player this season and played a total of 26 league games. For this reason, the club took him under contract for the next four years. FC Barcelona has a buyback option within the first three years. After Gijón's relegation to the Segunda División , he left the club in August 2012 and signed a five-year contract with Sevilla FC .

In 2009 he took part in the U-20 World Cup in Egypt with Spain's U-20s . There he was eliminated with Spain in the round of 16 against Italy after he was sent off in the 28th minute of that game. With the Spanish Olympic team , he took part in the 2012 Summer Games in London . The team was eliminated in the first round after losing 1-0 to Japan and Honduras and a goalless draw against Morocco.

In the summer of 2014 Alberto Botía moved to the Greek club Olympiacos Piraeus .
