Alberto Carnero

Alberto Carnero Fernández (* 31 December 1962 in Madrid ) is a Spanish diplomat in retirement .

Life

In October 1987 he became an intern in the foreign service, in March 1988 he was employed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in April 1988 he was sent to Monrovia (Liberia). From June 1990 he was consul in Manila (Philippines). From April 1993 he was employed in Bonn (Germany), where he was appointed Legation Councilor. In July 1997 he became the office manager of José María Aznar, then Prime Minister. He was a member of an advisory board responsible for relations with the governments of Central Europe and Russia and for international security issues

From May 2000 to July 2002 he headed the Ibero-America department. From July 2002 to April 2004, he was in charge of security in José María Aznar's office. From April 2004 in the Zapatero I cabinet , he was an advisory member of the State Secretary's Technical Office in the Foreign Ministry.

From September 2006 to January 2012 he was on leave and directed the international section of the Fundación para el Análisis y los Estudios Sociales (FAES), a foundation close to the Partido Popular (Spain) .

From January 2012 to May 2013 he was the office manager of José Manuel García-Margallo at the time Foreign Minister.

From May 18, 2013 to July 21, 2017 he was ambassador in Vienna
